Professional Responsibility Committee Virtual Town Hall

Professional Responsibility Committee Virtual Town Hall
11:30 a.m. Video Conference.  For the past several weeks, many of us have been teleworking under stay-at-home orders. Philadelphia, in particular, remains under a COVID-19 stay-at-home order until at least June 4th. Without question, COVID-19 has impacted each of us in unexpected and unpredictable ways. The same holds true for our clients. As lawyers, we have largely pivoted to continue serving our clients remotely, however, are there best practices to avoid ethical pitfalls? Is there guidance for navigating ethical challenges in our virtual lawyering spaces? We believe the answer to both questions is yes.  This Town Hall is an opportunity for us to come together to share in experiences and discuss the ethical duties of a virtual Lawyer during this pandemic. In particular, we will touch on the following topics:   - Communication with Clients and/or Opposing Counsel (including managing and responding to client expectations) - Maintaining Confidentiality (including ethical perils and best practices of distance communications)  - Technology Competence and Diligence (including procedures and pitfalls of virtual depositions, court appearances, and remote case management) - Supervising remote attorneys, paralegals, and other support staff (including best practices and overcoming pitfalls)

You must be registered through the Association’s site to receive the video conference ID and password. Registration will close 30 minutes prior to each meeting start time and you will receive the link to join immediately after registration closes.
