Chancellor’s Forum:COVID-19’s Impact on the Legal Profession

Chancellor’s Forum:COVID-19’s Impact on the Legal Profession
4 p.m. Zoom Webinar.  Join us for a Chancellor’s Forum with the co-authors of a new report focusing on how attorneys were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and how they expected their practices to evolve as a result.

The report, “Practicing Law in the Pandemic and Moving Forward: Results and Best Practices from a Nationwide Survey of the Legal Profession,” is the result of a survey of 4,200 American Bar Association members. It found that the need to work remotely during COVID-19 has caused high levels of stress and disengagement among lawyers, with these impacts disproportionately falling on women attorneys and attorneys of color.

Respondents also expressed the need for organization-wide policies focused on improving individual well-being, including flexible work schedules, comprehensive leave policies, and better efforts at communication and employee engagement from the top down.

Report co-authors Stephanie A. Scharf and Roberta D. Liebenberg will present their findings and discuss best practices as individual attorneys and firms prepare to emerge from a period of major disruption.
