CLE - Telemedicine: Criminal & Regulatory Overview

On April 9, 2019, the Department of Justice (DOJ) Criminal Division announced federal indictments and law enforcement actions in one of the largest health care fraud schemes involving telemedicine and durable medical equipment marketing executives. DOJ charged 24 defendants for over $1.2 billion in losses. This charging highlights the need for providers of telemedicine services to evaluate their compliance efforts. This timely and informative CLE will provide an overview of the investigation, expected changes in the industry, recommendations for health care providers, as well as an overview of some key regulatory considerations to mitigate the possibility of civil enforcement actions.
